Settlements in Palestine, the news channel Al-Jazeera, transsexuals in Iran, an Israeli-Palestinian orchestra, Kurds in Turkey or postwar scenes of Baghdad ... Since September 2007 we screen authentic images of the MENA region in our monthly documentary serial MUSALSAL and invite experts to debate the topic with the audience. A cooperation with Cinémathèque Leipzig.

Muslim Life in South Asia
From April to June 2010 eurient e.V. is organizing a serious of lectures about Islam and the situation of Muslims in South Asia. The lectures focuse on several aspects of muslim life in India and Pakistan.
While Muslims are still the majority in Kashmir and parts in the South, in other regions they live as a minority and often become a stereotyped enemy for Hindu nationalists. Consistently, the conflicts lead to acts of communal violence, as for example in 2002 in the federal state Gujarat.

“Hiwar Fanni – Transart”
This three-year project of academic cooperation aims to facilitate long-term collaboration of the participating universities, to provide mutual support in setting up faculties of arts and to organise the individual and artistic exchange between students and university members. The project involves professors and students from the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig, from Helwan University in Cairo, from the Lebanese University in Tripoli and from the University of Damascus.

German and European Foreign policy between the Hindukush and Mediterranean Duration
eurient e.V. performs from January till December 2009 a sequence of five panel discussions on the German foreign policies in the Middle East and Central Asia to look into different parameters of the foreign politics. In addition to an analysis of external economic, security and cultural development policy toward selected countries in that region will come up, especially the role of Germanny in the new Union for the Mediterranean. These events aim to raise public awareness on German and European economic and security interests.
„Kick it! – the International Girls Football Camp“
Against the background of recent football enthusiasm eurient is going to hold an international Girls Football Camp from August 5th - 16th with the slogan: Girls don't play offside! Target group of the project are young female footballers from Jordan, Algeria, Turkey, Norway, Czech Republic and Germany. The Camp will bring together young people with different cultural identities and enhance mutual dialogue and understanding by living a common passion and team spirit.

The Israel-Palestinian Conflict of the Media System
The eurient e.V. has been organizing a series of seven lectures (from 16 April to 2 July 2009) in cooperation with the Institute of Oriental Studies and the Institute for Communication and Media Studies at the University of Leipzig, seeking to analyze the problems and challenges the German media system faces in reporting on the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
